These links to our area maps should help you understand the "layout" of our coastal islands. Tybee Island is the furthest outer island and is a tourism center for the area. It offers the only beach area other than "Little Tybee" which is uninhabbited. Little Tybee is an easy boat ride from the southeastern shore across the river and many people visit the island in search of shells or whatever else washes up on the beach.
Whitemarsh Island offers the easiest commute to either Tybee, Savannah, and River Street. All of the schools and major shopping centers (Wallmart) are located on Whitemarsh Island. The intersection of the Islands Expressway and Route 80 forms a triangle on the island allowing multiple lane roads in every direction. The Savannah Yacht Club is located on Whitemarsh and there are shoreline properties offering deep water docks.
Wilmington Island has a great shoreline for the serious boater and many homes to choose from. It is slightly more secluded but has easy access to everything one needs. Whitemarsh and Wilmington are mainly owner occupied homes and residents working in the area. These islands are not a tourism area other than the intercoastal highway.
